I like working at HNTB because of the focus on people development. Building teams with everyone focused on becoming the best version of themselves creates a supporting and encouraging environment. It’s always with admiration when I see people grow as human beings and team that helped them accomplish that. Who we surround ourselves with at work impacts our personal lives and health so much. So being in a positive, people focused environment is why I like working for HNTB!

Since coming to HNTB I have experienced tremendous growth in both technical and leadership skills. The culture here supports the growth of the engineer in a very balanced way that I find rewarding as my career advances.

I chose to come to HNTB based on the values of the firm. Some companies develop nice, flashy vision, mission, and values statements, and that’s all they are — flashy statements on a piece of paper. Every staff member I spoke with talked about the values of the company and why they liked working at HNTB. After joining, I was pleased that the values they spoke about were the values actually displayed every day. It’s nice to work with people who are excited about making a difference for the clients we serve. The focus on quality work, on time, and on budget, to the client’s satisfaction on every project was exactly the type of team I wanted to be a part of. The commitment to building quality relationships was another reason why I’m happy to be a part of this organization. Finding out what the client values and being able to deliver that value is what makes this job so rewarding for me and all the employees here at HNTB.

The coolest thing at HNTB is the culture and how each person’s ideas and views matter. That is HNTB. That’s what keeps us great.

HNTB has fostered my development since joining the Michigan team in 2020. Leadership within the firm holistically assists with best fit career paths for each individual and with our career growth model provides opportunities otherwise unheard of. The support I have gained by my peers and leadership every step along my short time here displays HNTB’s commitment individually.

HNTB recognizes that diversity brings about innovative solutions to transportation issues that we face. HNTB, contrary to many others, will talk about inclusion and diversity, not diversity and inclusion. You can have diversity, but if you don’t include people, then the results will not be the same. We want to be inclusive, because we realize that by being inclusive, that’s how we can bring about equity.

I started with HNTB in November 2021 to get engaged in Michigan-based projects. I’m pleased that after being at HNTB two years I can remember four specific projects or initiatives that were discussed in my interview that I have since been able to play a significant role in. This took initiative on my part, and this also shows the culture of rewarding initiative at HNTB. My Michigan-based experience and exposure has grown much quicker than I thought would have been possible.

The things that draw me to HNTB are the projects and clients we get to work with every day. We get to work on the biggest, most complex projects and deliver to our clients and the public in general to provide transportation solutions that work and fix the problems that we have in our community.
